Corners of Nishtar ..
I know heart must flutter when one is about to get detached, if not detached, distant atleast, from something he has been close to . But when I was asked of how I felt in those last days of college, I felt nothing. Neither was my heart stuffed with any tightness nor did my brain sensed any upcoming distress . I was also not in the clan of "I have been dragged and put into this confinement without my will. Thank God this is ending for I cant wait to leave this hell and get the taste of real heaven outside " . As I said, I was indifferent. I felt nothing. I didnt pay any heed to it. I prefer leaving myself untouched when I am having my episodic temporary phlegmatic state of living in the real world with a dream like constitute.
But I can say that Nishtar has been a peace to me. A place or a person who gets you unwind the tensed wires of your mind and heart and convey a sense of peace is Home. Its called home, Right! Night walks on The Road inside Nishtar is one of the things I will never trade .Running across the corridors of hospital also feels a bliss as those walls impart a sense of familiarity and belonging.
Windows in corridors have always seemed to be a perfect place to me, specially the ones in corridor enroute to library, with space enough for only a single person to sit, them being a bit higher from ground provide a sense of achievement when you hop on to them. They are one of those places that provide partial yet selective solitude ,for most of the time you stay unbothered by passerbys ,you can hear them approaching as they talk about how sir Saqi's crafted paper came out to be so expectedly easy or how there's no deficit in the last Annual Dinner. Extremely rarely you may feel compelled to lift your eyes amused by someone's incoming vibe and gorgeously sound steps to catch a glance of them but in the shortest possible instant so that the other cant have an eye contact and break your comfortable aura . One of the perks of having a tiny social circle is that half of passerbys consider you a lunatic and half leave you undisturbed with the sympathy that you may be going through mid-life crisis . If you expect to sit there in hope that your favourite person may pass through that route and you may have one eternal ever lasting glance in that environment of scarcity, believe me it never happens.
But if you are in wildest of energies , windows on bridge from hospital to college are the one . You can sit on one side , stand, walk around , do absurd things, look down at the road and do your little spy things, get amused by glorified celebrities of your class escaping in 3 or 4 on a single bike, jump up to sit on the other side , or sit horizontally with legs completely on shelf. But this place demands a fine friend to sit right across you so that you can vent your energies by talking a bit loud. Also this place is perfect to have a cup of tea before going to library because sneaking chaye into library under the cover of overall always turns out disastrous .
Stairs in front of mango garden had long been my favourite place at Nishtar but they no more deserve my special adorance because of the betrayal, they have sided with and become habitat to the rival gender. There are some other points who are famous for the ease they provide. For example 'only ladies room' at hospital is a perfect place to have your breakfast alongwith early morning dose of passive smoking, L,ibrary; a nice cool place to sleep in summers , or winters or throughout the year, it is also a place to get your daily dose of bisti, if somehow ,you missed it in the wards…You just need a group of friends who are loud enough to trigger librarian. Docs aka hospital canteen is a nice place to spend some time but remember, if you have placed your order twice, its still not enough, you have to do it twice more.
Next few paragraphs are for only kings and queens and children of kings and queens who own the Nishtar, who have to make their daily appearances. General masses can leave from here.
Gogi Garden is the prettiest place at Nishtar, pretty enough to have your wedding photoshot here. If you see a group of kids sitting on chairs in front of Nishtar point in Gogi, it is entirely for the purpose of sunbath and in no way serves any other purpose, if accidentally, their wandering eyes fall upon a female, they immediately lower their gaze and condemn themselves for this act of great sinnery. Nishtar cafeteria needs no explanation. Wooden hut is The symbol of grandeur . Monarchs of Kingdom throne over that place and discuss important matters of state. Though it has collapsed a several times in my dreams, it will never do so in reality. Marble hut is a perfect place for well deserved and well needed interaction in funfair days, for, all artistic souls gather here in collaboration to produce something for their stall which is aimed to be eye-opening unique but God knows how it always comes out to be one of the same things their fathers and forefathers have been creating for centuries. Anyhow, Long Live the heritage!!!!!!!!
